Driving around Italy, you have to use the motorway.
If you have a credit card (visa, master...) the easiest, reliable and safe way is tu use the lanes and gates with the BLUE sign, under the name CARTE.
Approaching the toll, drive on the blue lane, stop at the gate with the blue sign CARTE, put the card into machine and you can have on the display the € to be paid, push on the bottom to get a receipt, avoiding both confusion, and slowing down of the car flow near the pay tolls.
